Should You Migrate to PrestaShop 9?
The question of migrating to PrestaShop 9 is on everyone's lips, especially for those using earlier versions. What does this new version have in store for us?
The question of migrating to PrestaShop 9 is on everyone's lips, especially for those using earlier versions. But what does this new version have in store for us?
What's New in PrestaShop 9?
To discover the new features, you can check the official page or the article by Matthieu Jalbert. However, it is important to note that there are no revolutionary changes. In reality, PrestaShop 9 seems to be a continuation rather than a true advancement. The aspects of security, SEO, and performance do not show significant improvements compared to versions 1.7 or 8.X.
A New Theme, But...
The argument for a new theme is also unconvincing. Upon testing it, we find that it lacks harmony and care in design. Compared to premium themes, it falls short of merchants' expectations.
Current State of Affairs
One could say that we are living in a time where updates come quickly, but does this really meet the needs of merchants? The update assistant, although improved, remains a tedious process. Therefore, it is difficult to justify a migration to this new version based on these improvements.
It seems that PrestaShop is focusing too much on technical aspects, forgetting the real needs of users. A more significant update, integrating a premium theme and AI tools, would be much more beneficial for merchants.
What to Do?
If you are considering creating a new store, it would be wise to wait 6 months to a year to see how the ecosystem reacts to this version. For those already using PrestaShop 1.7 or 8, it is better not to migrate for now. Wait for a critical technical turning point before making this leap.
